This is a 2 week demo project we discontinued.

Spooksville is a short Unreal Engine prototype made by two friends in about two weeks. It began as a fun spooky survival idea with civilians to protect, simple gunplay, and basic win/lose conditions.

What was the idea? 

- You play as a robot specifically made to deal with a city level threat of yokai monsters that all have unique abiities. We were only able to utilize the chest monster but we were planning on 6 different ones with scary implementation to expand. We wish we did a yokai that is really slow but focuses the player for a instant game over and a yokai that explodes on death. These ideas were really fun to do even if we didnt get too far. 

What was the tutorial for or supposed to be?

- it was supposed to be a simple explanation of scientist testing a robots abilities[mind transfer]  was successful and if it was able to see the monsters plagueing the city. You were supposed go be given a tiny info dialogue with the scientist and then have a cod like practice range time event utilizing built features.

What was the story?

- You volunteered for a mind transfer which places you into the body of a robot so you can fight back against the monsters on the city. It is revealed that a experiment when wrong and cia/scientist are containing the city to see what happens. This would have led to a boss fight revealing the energy for the lab was monsters themselves that got freed due to corporate greed. 

What was the game loop?

- All corners of the map plus the middle was supposed to have a speedboost like platform that helped you traverse the size of the city. It was supposed to be maintaining four districts with different constrictions for each. We called it spooksville an really enjoyed the brainstorming. Thank you for reading!

Why we discontinued?

-After testing the concept, we decided not to continue it as a full project, but the build remains as a small playable experiment. It helped us practice Unreal Blueprints, UI, level flow, enemy/civilian logic, and packaging a Windows game. We know this idea was good but it wasnt good enough.
